How to help the Okotoks Foodbank during the COVID-19 Pandemic

We have been asked by many in our community how best to help the Foodbank during this period of crisis. Here are a couple of suggestions that would be of great use to our clients over the next few months:

  • Sponsor a family in need by covering the cost of a monthly food hamper. Family sizes range from 1-3 ($125 per month), 4-6 ($150 per month) and 6+ ($175 per month). You choose the size of family you wish to support and how long you would like to offer this support. Payment can be made online at Canada Helps (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/48076), mailed to us (PO Box 942, Okotoks, AB T1S 1B1) or hand-delivered to our Administration Office (Unit 120, 220 Stockton Avenue).
  • Monetary donations can be made as noted above, i.e. online via Canada Helps, mailed via Canada Post, or hand-delivered to our Administration Office.
  • Food donations can be dropped off at any of the local grocery stores in the designated Foodbank bins, or delivered to the Okotoks Foodbank Warehouse, (Unit 114, 220 Stockton Avenue). Every Wednesday, we post on our website and social media sites (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter) the most needed items of the week (#whatsneededwednesdays). Please note that donors are currently not permitted to enter the Okotoks Foodbank Warehouse – we have shopping carts placed in front of the Foodbank which are emptied throughout the day.
  • Community Food Drives are highly discouraged at this point in time due to the need forheightened safety protocols and social distancing parameters.

Thank you for your help with all of this, Okotoks Community. We need you more than ever right now.
