Regular hampers provide emergency food assistance for a week to ten days for individuals and families. These include items from all food groups including meat, dairy and produce. These hampers can be accessed 6 times in a 12 month period. There is no time limit between visits. Clients may self-refer the first 6 hampers, but if further assistance is required must apply and provide qualifying information to our partner referral agency, Okotoks Family Resource Centre. Referrals to supporting agencies are given to all clients to assist them in getting the support they need to get back on their feet.
We will do an application over the phone during the Office Hours noted above. We will ask questions such as where you live, how many are in your household, and if there are any food allergies. During the telephone application you will be assigned an appointment time to pick up the hamper during a scheduled hamper session. When you pick up your hamper you will need to provide ID for each person listed on your application.
If you are unable to call during the designated times we can do an email application at firstname.lastname@example.org. Emergency Packs – These packs are comprised of a couple of days worth of food that does not need preparation and are targeted for a transient client or emergency situation. These packs are distributed through the Food Bank as needed. The OFBA networks with other agencies to give clients the support they require in times of crisis. This is done by providing information to clients about other resources available to them within the community.
