We were also able to provide additional support to through our Help Yourself Shelf Program with 1,161 visits in the second half of 2015 alone. We have experienced significant increases in the past several years with a 47% increased in demand from 2014 to 2015.
Now, in 2016, the increase for families and individuals struggling with food insecurity has jumped another 46% in the first three months compared to this time last year. The current economic hardships in Alberta and increased food prices continue to make create difficulty for families and individuals trying to make ends meet.
